Hymns Found in Grace Livingston Hill Books

Gospel Song Books

Grace Livingston Hill included a number of what must have been her favorite hymns within her storylines. Many of them were written over a century ago and are no longer heard in the churches of today.

Locating those hymns is not always easy, especially when she only uses a line or two to further the plot. When we find a hymn, we offer them here for you to "see" and "hear" what Grace did when adding many of them to her characters' lives. This is a work in progress. At Thy Feet I Fall

Found in "Life Out of Death"

By Catherine Booth, Mother of The Salvation Army, 1888

O Lamb of God! Thou wonderful sin-bearer,
Hard after Thee my soul doth follow on;At Thy Feet I Fall
As pants the hart for streams in desert dreary,
So pants my soul for Thee, O Thou life-giving One.

Refrain:

At Thy feet I fall,
Yield Thee up my all,
To suffer, live, or die
For my Lord crucified.

I mourn, I mourn the sin that drove Thee from me,
And blackest darkness brought into my soul;
Now I renounce the cursed sin that hindered,
And come once more to Thee, to be made fully whole.

Refrain

Come, Holy Ghost, Thy mighty aid bestowing,
Destroy the works of sin, the self, the pride;
Burn, burn in me, my idols overthrowing;
Prepare my heart for Him—for my Lord crucified.

Refrain
